Cochrane Russia Workshop 2023: Summary

Cochrane workshop «Evidence-based clinical guidelines for the safety of pharmacotherapy», organized by Cochrane Russia together with Cochrane China, was held as a part of the Russian congress «Safety of pharmacotherapy 360°: Noli nocere!» at RMANPO on May 18, 2023.

Rector of RMANPO, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Alekseevich Sychev and Senior Officer of US Network & Geographic Groups and Cochrane Central Executive Team Tiffany Duque addressed the participants of the workshop with a welcoming speech. In their greetings, they noted the main activities and achievements of Cochrane Russia at RMANPO, the first ever National Subscription to the Cochrane Library in the Russian Federation, plans for further collaboration between Cochrane Russia and Cochrane China and wished all the participants and speakers a successful and fruitful workshop.

The event was moderated by Rector, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Alekseevich Sychev and Director of Cochrane Russia, Professor Liliya Eugenevna Ziganshina.

Professor Yaolong Chen from Lanzhou University (Cochrane China) in the report «The RIGHT Statement and Consortium: an overview from the founder» presented his team, the meaning of the RIGHT tool and its areas of use, the main development stages and the content of the RIGHT checklist, the availability of the Russian version.

Janne Estill, Adjunct Professor of the School of Basic Medical Sciences (Lanzhou University) continued the topic of the RIGHT tool in the report «Implementation of the RIGHT checklist and its extensions in practice», presented the comparison of RIGHT and AGREE tools, spoke about the extensions and practical application of RIGHT.

Professor Chavdar Savovich Pavlov from the First Moscow State Medical University named after I. M. Sechenov and the Cochrane Hepato-Biliary Group in the report «Systematic Reviews of the Cochrane Library – for Clinical Guidelines» noted the importance of including evidence from Cochrane systematic reviews in clinical guidelines.

Ekaterina Victorovna Yudina, Coordinator of the Knowledge Translation Centre (RMANPO), presented a brief overview of Cochrane information and education resources for the rational and safe use of medicines.

Professor Liliya Eugenevna Ziganshina, Leading Coordinator of the Knowledge Translation Centre (RMANPO), in her report «Deprescribing of medicines: Special Cochrane collection» spoke about Cochrane systematic reviews on the issues of deprescribing (cancellation of medicines or reduction in their doses) and its importance in improving the safety of pharmacotherapy.

At the end of the workshop, Liliya Eugenevna Ziganshina, together with the other speakers, summed up the results of the event, answered questions from the participants.
