Cochrane workshop «Critical appraisal of clinical practice guidelines and of the process of their development to ensure high guideline quality for effective and safe pharmacotherapy», organized by Cochrane Russia together with Cochrane China, was held as a part of the Third Russian Congress «Safety of pharmacotherapy 360°: Noli Nocere!» at RMANPO on May 20, 2025.
This workshop was dedicated to the memory of the Distinguished Professor of the Kazan State Medical Academy Irina Eugenevna Zimakova, who seeded the ideas and principles of safe medicines use on the basis of solid research evidence, on her 90th Anniversary.

The Rector of RMANPO, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Dmitry A. Sychev, the Vice-Rector of RMANPO, Academician of RAS Irina V. Poddubnaya, Senior Officer of US Network & Geographic Groups and Cochrane Central Executive Team Karla Duque and Cochrane Russia Director Prof. L. E. Ziganshina addressed the participants of the workshop with welcoming speeches.

In their greetings, they noted the achievement of an important milestone – 10 years of fruitful work by Cochrane Russia in promoting Cochrane evidence in Russia and Russian-speaking countries, the relevance of the workshop topic given the high demand for the quality of Russian clinical guidelines being developed, thanked their colleagues from Cochrane China for successfully ongoing collaboration and their active participation in joint scientific and educational events, and wished the participants and speakers a successful workshop.

The event was moderated by the Rector, Dmitry A. Sychev, the Vice-Rector Irina V. Poddubnaya and Director of Cochrane Russia, Professor Liliya Eu. Ziganshina.

In the first presentation, Prof. Yaolong Chen talked about the RIGHT checklist family, its development and dissemination, and the importance of high-quality presentation of information in clinical guidelines.

Prof. Janne Estill together with Yangqin Xun presented a report on «Reporting conflicts of interest and funding in clinical practice guidelines: development, testing and implementation of the RIGHT-COI&F checklist» and provided details on the background and development stages of the extension of RIGHT tool on reporting conflicts of interest and funding in clinical guidelines, the results of the checklist ease of understanding survey and its testing.
Professor Ch. S. Pavlov presented the results of critical assessment of information on evidence of the effectiveness and safety of individual medical interventions in Russian clinical guidelines, and drew attention to the incorrect assessment of the strength of evidence in current clinical guidelines and discrepancies with the results of Cochrane systematic reviews.
Professor L.E. Ziganshina spoke about the possible consequences of the influence of conflict of interest on the results of clinical trials; the main areas of activity of the Cochrane Collaboration to ensure the quality, reliability and transparency of Cochrane knowledge, including the policy in the field of conflict of interest of the management and members of the Cochrane Collaboration, authors of Cochrane systematic reviews.
E.V. Yudina presented information on the preparation of the Russian-language version of the RIGHT statement and checklist, the participation of Cochrane Russia and RMANPO in a survey on the ease of understanding of the extension of RIGHT, dedicated to the presentation of information on conflicts of interest and funding (RIGHT-COI&F), and the preparation of the Russian-language version of RIGHT-COI&F.
M. S. Chenkurov presented a report on behalf of the Department of General and Clinical Pharmacology of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, named after Patrice Lumumba, and talked about the results of a joint study on assessment of the quality of Russian clinical practice guidelines using the RIGHT tool.
