Cochrane Russia Workshop 28 November 2024: Summary

Cochrane workshop « Evidence-Based Approaches to Longevity », organized by Cochrane Russia together with Cochrane China, was held as a part of the International Congress "Quality of Life and Longevity" at the Russian Medical Academy of Continuous Professional Education (RMANPO) on November 28, 2024.

The Rector of RMANPO, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Dmitry A. Sychev, Senior Officer of US Network & Geographic Groups and Cochrane Central Executive Team Tiffany Duque and Cochrane Russia Director Prof. L. E. Ziganshina addressed the participants of the workshop with welcoming speeches.

They wished all participants and speakers a successful and fruitful workshop and noted the successfully developing collaboration between RMANPO and Lanzhou University, the host institutions of two Cochrane Geographical Groups – Cochrane Russia and Cochrane China, the traditional inclusion of joint Cochrane worshops in RMANPO scientific and educational events, the relevance of the workshop topic given the growing need for high-quality clinical guidelines to improve the quality and life expectancy of the population.

The event was moderated by the Rector, Academician of RAS Dmitry A. Sychev and Professor Liliya Eu. Ziganshina.

In the first report, Prof. Yaolong Chen spoke about the main development directions of Cochrane China and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Clinical Guidelines Implementation and Knowledge Translation at Lanzhou University, the RIGHT clinical guideline assessment tool, scientific research in the field of clinical guideline registration PREPARE and the use of artificial intelligence in the development and assessment of clinical guidelines ADVANCED.

Professor Janne Estill presented the report “Conflict of Interest in the Development of Evidence-Based Approaches to Increasing Life Expectancy”, in which he spoke about the types of conflict of interest, existing problems in the area of conflict of interest in clinical guidelines and tools for its assessment, as well as the problem of polymorbidity and polypharmacy, which is inevitably associated with increasing life expectancy.

Professor L.E. Ziganshina in the report “Cochrane systematic reviews for improving quality of life and healthy longevity” noted the main areas of WHO activity for healthy longevity and active ageing, presented information from current Cochrane systematic reviews in the field of improving health, quality and life expectancy of the population.

In a message dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Cochrane Translation Project, E.V. Yudina spoke about the history of the project, the directions of Cochrane's development in the field of translation and knowledge transfer projects, Cochrane information resources in different languages, the contribution of Cochrane Russia and the entire group of volunteer translators to the availability of Cochrane evidence in Russian.

At the end of the workshop, Professor L. E. Ziganshina summed up the results of the event and thanked all the participants of the Cochrane workshop.
